Faculty and Staff
The Children's House began in 1971, the Elementary School opened in 1973, and the Toddler Community was established in 2000. We believe in the importance of a well-trained stable staff for each program.
We are proud of our teaching staff! All Head Teachers in the Toddler Community, Children's House, and Elementary Program are certified through either either Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) or The American Montessori Society (AMS). Head Teachers in the Elementary and the Children's House have an average of 15 years experience teaching at SFMS. Our Toddler Teachers received their training under the guidance of Dr. Silvana Quatrocchi Montanaro, from Rome, Italy. She is the Director of Training, Assistance to Infancy Course, which she presented in La Jolla, California.
Each classroom also has an assistant teacher, most of whom are in the process of becoming certified Montessori teachers. All assistants who work with our young children are required to have Early Childhood Education Credits.
Classmate ratios are; Toddler Community 6:1, Children's House 12:1, Elementary School 14:1. We have additional teachers on staff who provide support in specific areas: Montessori music in the Children's House and Jr.I Elementary Level, computer instruction at the Elementary Level, Spanish at the Elementary Level and P.E. at the Elementary Level.
